Smoky Valley Schools - Website
The Smoky Valley School District (USD 400), with a central office in Lindsborg, encompasses 396 square miles and serves the communities of Lindsborg, Falun, Marquette, Roxbury and Smolan. The District includes territory in McPherson, Ellsworth and Saline Counties.

Smoky Valley High School: full-time enrollment approximately 321. Grades 9-12.
Lindsborg Middle School: full-time enrollment approximately 250. Grades 5-8.
Soderstrom Elementary: full-time enrollment approximately 262. Grades K-4.
Marquette Elementary: K-8: full-time enrollment approximately 144.
Smoky Valley Virtual Charter School: full-time enrollment approximately 27. Grades 7-12.

The District's fulltime enrollment for the 2005-06 school year was 1,007. The District's weighted enrollment is 1,529.

A seven-member Board of Education supervises management of the District with regular meetings scheduled at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the central office.

The District's total operating budget for the 2005-06 school year is $8,089,954. Approximately 87 percent of the general fund is supported through state per/pupil allocations. The remaining 13 percent is funded through taxes in the District's counties.

The District's total property tax levy for the 2005-06 school year is 57.362 mills. The components of this property levy were: 20 mills statewide uniform school property tax; 19.277 mills supplemental local option funding; 4.000 mills capital outlay fund and 14.085 mills bond and interest fund.

The District owns and operates the transportation fleet, and is one of five members of the McPherson County Special Education Cooperative. Total employees number 272, including full-time, part-time and substitute staff. The District employs approximately 81 teachers.

The District operates the following schools: Marquette Elementary (K-8) in Marquette; and in Lindsborg, Soderstrom Elementary (K-4), Lindsborg Middle School (5-8), Smoky Valley High School (9-12) and Smoky Valley Charter School (7-12).

Bethany College - Website
Bethany College is a not-for-profit 4-year liberal arts college.  Most prominently known for their successful programs in music, arts and education, Bethany College also provides excellent opportunities in the sciences, humanities, business, and athletics. 

The successes of their alumni are legendary and the loyalty of those same individuals speak to Bethany's campus life and to the educators found there. Bethany College was founded in 1881 by Swedish-Lutheran settlers. Today, Bethany College maintains a close relationship with the City of Lindsborg, and is proud of its affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Bethany College has an enrollment of 650 students from approximately 24 states and 15 foreign countries.
